Shangri-La Golden Flower Hotel, Xian

Xian 2016

On our first day in Xian we returned to the hotel tired and hot and hoping the friendly Chinese lion at the door would bless us with some rest - and air conditioning!!

The hotel was in the city and handy to all the places we visited.  In our room the decor was modern but some of the public reception rooms were designed in the Chinese style.

In this beautiful hotel restaurant we discovered Xian Ribbon Noodles -  roughly cut strips of pasta made from locally grown millet, served with meat and vegetables and a little chilli.  Simple but delicious!

Anne and I lashed out on the hotel's afternoon tea - hot food, cakes, biscuits, dried fruit, ice cream with toffee, yogurt with watermelon and tea & coffee!  And the cost?  $A9 each!

This restaurant was where we had buffet breakfast and, at night, it served a smorgasbord dinner.  Anne had the seafood smorgasbord for 79 yuan which is less than $A16
